Leah M. Nollenberger – Associate
Leah M. Nollenberger joined Cooney, Scully and Dowling in 2011. She focuses on civil litigation. In 2015 she was selected to the Connecticut Super Lawyers list as a Rising Star in the field of General Personal Injury Defense; in 2016 and 2017 she was selected as a Rising Star in the field of Personal Injury: Medical Malpractice Defense.
Ms. Nollenberger represents clients in a range of matters including: the defense of physicians, hospitals, and long term care facilities for allegations of medical malpractice; uninsured/underinsured motorist actions; and the defense of the State of Connecticut in matters involving state highway defects and motor vehicle claims. She also represents personal injury defendants in a variety of negligence actions stemming from premises liability and automobile accidents. She has defended clients at trial in both Superior Court and small claims, and has argued at the Appellate Court.
Prior to joining Cooney, Scully and Dowling, Ms. Nollenberger worked for a mid-size insurance defense firm. She defended clients in matters involving workers’ compensation, products liability, negligence and liquor liability claims under both statutory actions pursuant to the Dram Shop Act and theories of reckless service of alcohol. She also pursued subrogation actions for insurers in matters involving products liability, premises liability and theft.
Professional and Civic Activities
While attending Roger Williams University School of Law, Ms. Nollenberger was awarded the CALI Award for Excellence in Advanced Torts and Legal Drafting: Commercial Workout. Ms. Nollenberger is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Connecticut Defense Lawyer Association, Oliver Ellsworth Inn of Court, and the DRI. She plays violin in the Connecticut Valley Symphony Orchestra and serves on the New London Community Orchestra board of directors.
