Kay A. Williams – Partner
Kay A. Williams joined Cooney, Scully and Dowling in 2007. She has a diverse practice encompassing not-for-profit and for-profit corporate law, appellate advocacy, workers’ compensation and general civil litigation, with an emphasis in professional malpractice defense.
Ms. Williams represents clients in a wide range of matters involving corporate compliance and tax, and assists clients with contracts, leases, real estate transactions and obtaining tax exempt status. Ms. Williams represents non-profit corporations including the Archdiocese of Hartford and Catholic Charities.
Ms. Williams also represents clients in civil litigation. She has successfully defended businesses, individuals, hospitals and the State of Connecticut. Her practice includes insurance defense and professional malpractice defense, where she has represented clients in medical malpractice, legal malpractice and accounting malpractice actions.
Professional and Civic Activities
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Williams was a consultant at a national accounting firm. She provided financial advisory and business restructuring services to corporate clients, including extensive work on matters involving turnaround planning and implementation and bankruptcy. Ms. Williams is a member of the Connecticut and New York State Bar Associations and holds a Certificate in Tax Studies from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
