Practice
Lorinda S. Coon prosecutes and defends appeals
in a wide variety of cases, including those involving
claims of medical and legal malpractice, negligence,
and insurance matters. Ms. Coon provides counsel
and handles litigation concerning insurance coverage
issues. She also represents clients with respect
to real estate, probate and business matters,
and counsels non-profit organizations on a variety
of issues. Ms. Coon has been with Cooney, Scully
and Dowling since 1984.
Professional
Experience
An experienced appellate advocate, Ms. Coon has
argued before the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate
Courts on many occasions, and her name appears
as counsel in over 50 reported decisions. She
has represented the State of Connecticut in numerous
appeals involving defective highway and motor
vehicle negligence claims. Ms. Coon represents
non-profit corporations including the Archdiocese
of Hartford and its affiliated organizations,
the Sisters of Saint Joseph, the Sisters of Mercy,
St. Agnes Home and the Connecticut Psychological
Association.
Professional
and Civic Activities
Ms. Coon was a trustee of Saint Agnes Home, Inc.
from 1987-1993. She currently serves on the Town
of Wethersfield Flood and Erosion Control Board,
is an alternate on the Board of Ethics, and is
a member of the Connecticut Supreme Court Historical
Society. She is a cum laude graduate of Albany
Law School where she was named to the Justinian
Society. She is a member of the New York, Connecticut
and Hartford County Bar Associations.
