For
nearly 70 years, the firm of Cooney, Scully and Dowling
has provided legal services in Connecticut. We believe
that our longevity is a reflection of the excellence of
our work, of our attorneys, and of our staff.
A significant portion of the firm's litigation practice
is in the defense of those sued in civil litigation. Our
practice includes professional malpractice (medical, dental,
legal, architectural, engineering, real estate and accounting),
general liability, product liability, premises liability,
real estate, employment, civil rights, construction, corporate,
directors and officers, environmental, insurance coverage,
workers' compensation, and first and third-party bad faith
litigation. We also defend governmental entities and their
employees in matters as diverse as defective highway suits,
civil rights, and police pursuit claims. We represent
plaintiffs in personal injury and other matters.
The non-litigation aspect of the firm's practice includes
business and commercial law, and general practice. We
represent a large number of non-profit and for-profit
entities in general corporate and business matters, in
commercial transactions and contracts, and in commercial
real estate and zoning. We provide counseling and training
to employers on employment matters, and represent them
in labor relations. We represent individuals in real estate,
zoning, estate planning and probate, conservatorships
and miscellaneous matters.
We take seriously our role as advisors and counselors.
A good lawyer should combine sensitivity to a client's
problems with sound, practical advice. Unlike many firms
where attorneys practice in only one narrow area of the
law, attorneys at Cooney, Scully and Dowling practice
in several areas and are exposed to many of the legal
problems an individual or business can face. This depth
and breadth of experience helps us to recommend common
sense solutions to our clients' legal problems.
